What this site currently is
Barecost is in development and is not on sale. This site describes a product that does not exist yet and collects email addresses from people who want to know when it launches. Nothing here is an offer to sell, and no contract is formed by joining the list.
What is described versus what exists
The features described on the home page, the studio, storyboards, the spending limit, batch generation, cost reports, describe Barecost as intended at launch. They are commitments about what we are building, not descriptions of working software. Plans can change, and some features may arrive later than others or not at all. If you have paid nothing, you have lost nothing.
Prices
The launch price shown ($99 Solo) is what people on the list will be offered when Barecost opens. We intend to raise it to $199 after launch. Agency is quoted after a conversation; its launch price rises once the first ten are taken. These are statements of intent, not a discount from a price previously charged, Barecost has never been sold at any price.
Prices are shown in US dollars and include any sales tax or VAT due in your country. At launch, payment will be handled by Stripe Managed Payments, which acts as merchant of record, meaning Stripe, not Barecost, is the legal seller and is responsible for tax.
What you will be buying
A one-time licence to use the Barecost software. It is not a subscription and does not renew.
Barecost does not include AI generation. Barecost runs on your own account with a third-party provider such as fal.ai. You will pay that provider directly for every video you generate, at their published rates, on your own card. Barecost adds no markup and receives no share of it. If you do not have such an account, Barecost will not be able to generate anything.
Third-party providers
Barecost is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with fal.ai, ByteDance, Google, Kuaishou, or any model provider. Model names are used descriptively and remain the property of their owners. Provider prices, model availability and terms are set entirely by them and can change without notice, including in ways that affect what Barecost can do. Any prices quoted on this site are the provider's published rates on the date stated, and are not a price we control or guarantee.
Refunds
When Barecost goes on sale, it will carry a 5-day money-back guarantee, including if you cannot get the provider setup working. That guarantee will cover what you pay Barecost. It cannot cover money you have already spent with your provider on generations, because we never receive it.
Acceptable use
At launch, you will agree not to use Barecost to create material that is illegal, that depicts real people without consent, that sexualises minors, or that infringes someone else's rights. Your provider's own policies apply on top of ours, and they enforce them on their own account.
Your content
Anything you generate is yours. It is produced on your provider account and stored there. Barecost claims no rights over it and does not use it to train anything.
Liability
Nothing here limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited by law. Subject to that, and to any consumer rights you have that cannot be waived, Barecost's total liability is limited to what you paid for the licence.
